About PubPhys
PubPhys is an open database of unsolved problems in physics: big open questions, the precise problems under them, what would settle each one, and its status in the published literature. Reading is open to everyone, through the site, a read-only API and MCP.
Editorial policy
- A problem is accepted when it is an open question in physics, stated so that a specialist knows what would settle it. Whether it is right, important or hard is not judged at entry.
- The status in the literature (open, contested, partially resolved) describes published work, never a verdict by PubPhys.
- Problems added by people are published after an automatic screening or an editor's release, and shown as unreviewed until an editor reviews them. Problems of the seed collection are labelled as compiled by AI until an editor reviews them.
- Editors remove content only for copyright, personal data, abuse or spam; the removal is a signed record in the log.
- Nothing is overwritten: every version is a signed record in a public log, timestamped in Bitcoin within hours (what a record shows).
- No votes, reputation scores or badges.
Editors
No editors are appointed yet.
Each appointment is a record signed with the appointer's ORCID login (all appointments).
Who runs PubPhys
Editorial decisions about problems (releasing, rejecting and removing them) are made by the editors of each field, who are appointed by the chief editor. An administrator keeps the site running, appoints the chief editor and chooses the topics shown on the front page, but does not review, release or remove problems. The code of the verifier is public (Galitski-group/pubphys-verifier), and so is the log (Galitski-group/pubphys-log).
