Superconductivity in magic-angle twisted graphene multilayers
Magic-angle twisted bilayer and trilayer graphene become superconductors (zero electrical resistance) at one to a few kelvin when a gate adds or removes electrons. The interaction that pairs the electrons and the symmetry of the pairs are unknown.
Why it matters
Superconductivity here appears at very low electron density next to strong repulsion, so identifying its cause tests pairing theories for unconventional superconductors generally.
