Radiopharmaceutical therapy dosimetry
A radioactive drug is injected and carried by the bloodstream to tumour cells, where it irradiates them from inside. Unlike external beam treatment, nobody knows accurately what dose each organ and tumour receives.
Why it matters
Without a measured dose, these treatments are given at fixed activity rather than tailored, which both undertreats tumours and risks organ damage.
